Susan Stanek Art at Lowell Chamber of Commerce
From July 14 thru September 3, Susan Stanek art will be on display at the Lowell Chamber of Commerce, 113 Riverwalk Plaza. Meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, July 19 from 2 to 4 pm.
The Lowell Chamber of Commerce is featuring a world class artist who is born and raised right here in Grand Rapids. Susan Stanek is hosting a show of her contemporary, nature inspired art in the cultural epicenter of the township. Lowell is a great place for a night out with quaint shops, fine dining, and the Showboat next door to the art exhibition is a must see. Float along the Flat River and indulge in live music and dancing every Thursday, and also experience Susan Stanek’s sophisticated, nature inspired art.
Susan Stanek has been a gallery artist for a decade, and has patrons from New York to California, as well as England. She recently designed the flag for the Grand Rapids Rotary club who’s unveiling was at Kent Country Club during a regular meeting. She also contributed art to a movie called Broken, which was sponsored by Miramax, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The main character, Christian is an artist, and her work is featured as his in the award winning film.
Susan creates art of all types, from sculpture to paintings, contemporary, traditional and avant-garde, including fine art and commercial art. She calls herself “the ultimate multi-genre artist” because she also enjoys singing and performing on stage. She headlined her first art show May of 2007 where her myriad of art styles was seen under one roof, and even the live music was a Susan Stanek performance. She graduated from Aquinas College in 2004 with a BFA in Studio Art, and has maintained Deans List status throughout her academic career. Professor and fellow sculptor Ron Pederson wrote, “Your work has a quiet, intelligent spirit, and I encourage you to keep it up. My sense is that for you making things is, as breathing is, just a natural way of being.”
Susan Stanek has been creating art since she was a young child, and has always been cutting edge with utilizing her education while still maintaining her childhood passion for creating. She said, “I love to experiment, and that gives a slightly whimsical feel, but I adore the classic artists like Monet and Rembrandt, so I’ll often sneak in references to the masters.”
